In August 2017, I traveled to Coimbatore in search of survival and took on numerous responsibilities, including meeting my family’s basic needs. I started working as a food delivery driver before transitioning to a public goods carrier and car driver. Despite these roles, I harbored a dream of creating or manufacturing a product and achieving something significant.
After numerous trips across states with a cargo carrier, I noticed the rising trend of Goli soda making a comeback in India. Inspired by the “vocal for local” movement, I decided to venture into the soft drink market. We chose the name DHEERA in 2019 and established a production facility in Coimbatore with an initial investment of ₹5000. In November 2019, after much anticipation, Dheera Goli Soda was finally released into the market. However, selling even ten crates a week proved challenging in 2020.
With the onset of the lockdown in 2020 and throughout 2021, our team did not give up. We invested approximately ₹10 lakhs in research to perfect our formulation during the Corona days.
As of 2024, DHEERA Goli Soda has become a recognized name in Coimbatore’s fast-moving consumer goods sector. Despite this success, we currently cannot supply 30% of the city’s demand. Nevertheless, I continue to dream big.
